Inclusive Preschool Program

Children Playing
  • The Union Township School District offers two full-day integrated programs with special education students attending alongside general education students. One program is for 3 year olds and the other is for 4 year olds.  A nap/quiet time for each preschool section will be instituted and will last
    approximately 60 minutes.

The teachers, who are certified in both elementary education and special education, along with one instructional aide, will teach the class. The ratio of adults to children in the room will be approximately 1:7.

The curriculum is aligned with the New Jersey State Standards for Preschool. Children are taught through hands-on learning, as well as visual and auditory approaches. Throughout the school year, children will be exposed to various strategies and techniques to establish a foundation for educational success. Students will acquire various skills, such as cognitive, fine motor, gross motor, social, and self-help skills.

Transportation will only be provided if included as part of a child’s IEP.  Otherwise, parents/guardians will be responsible for transportation.

  • Applicants must be three or four years old on or before October 1, 2021 to qualify.  Applications are due no later than March 26nd. There is a limited number of students that will be selected. Preference will be given to current students enrolled, township residents, and staff with preschool aged children. If the number of applicants exceeds available slots, a lottery will be held. If seats are available, registration will be opened to non-resident students.  Parents/guardians will be notified of their child's acceptance no later than March 31th.

    • All preschool students must be fully potty trained prior to the first day of school.
    • The two separate full-day programs, one for 3 year olds and one for 4 year olds, are held Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 3:00 pm. The classes will follow the Regular Union Township School calendar relevant to opening and closing dates and school holidays.
    • The full day tuition cost is $7,150 for the year for residents and $7,650 for non-residents.
