Welcome to Mrs. Richards' Bio Page. I was born in California, but my family moved often. Actually, I had been to nine different schools by the time I became a freshman in high school!
I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in education. I began my teaching career in North Carolina, and continued it in Morristown, New Jersey, when I got married. I have been here at Union Township School for nineteen years. In all, I have taught pre-school, third grade, fifth grade, sixth grade, basic skills, pre-algebra, algebra, and honors geometry. I have been an in-class support teacher in all subject areas. This is my ninth year in Social Studies, and I like that the best of all the things I've taught!
I have two children who went through all nine years at this school. My son, A.J, received a Ph.D. in Physics at Rutgers, and now teaches at The College of New Jersey. My daughter, Amy, graduated from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. She majored in French, and spent a year in Angers, France, teaching English in a French school. She currently works at the University of Colorado.
I enjoy doing all kinds of puzzles, reading books about murder and mystery, and relaxing with my cat, Tango. And I love teaching middle-schoolers all about the civilizations of the ancient world!
