This year in Language Arts we will. . .
*learn about elements of literature and literary terms.
*practice using context clues to determine word meaning and use.
*Identify and apply knowledge of prefixes/Greek roots and identify figurative language.
*review parts of grammar in order to improve our speaking and writing.
*read fiction and nonfiction, and practice finding textual evidence and supporting details.
*use the writing process to create various types of writing such as narrative and persuasive.
Grading Policy:
Marking period grades will be weighted as follows:
40% - summative assessments (tests, writing, projects)
30% - formative assessments (quizzes)
30% - classwork/homework
Class Expectations:
*Do not disrupt the class.
*Keep your hands to yourself & do not touch other people’s belongings.
*Be on time and prepared.
*Be respectful to teachers, classmates, and your classroom.
*Do your own work.
*Try your best!
