Superintendent's Corner
Dr. Lisa Antunes brings more than 30 years of experience in public education, including over 20 years in district leadership. She has served as a special education teacher, curriculum leader, assistant superintendent, superintendent, adjunct professor, and mentor to aspiring educational leaders. Throughout her career, one guiding belief has remained constant: All students can learn ~ and "all" truly means all.
Dr. Antunes is committed to ensuring that every student is known, valued, challenged, and supported to reach their full potential. She believes schools play a vital role in developing not only academic excellence, but also critical thinking, resilience, confidence, and strong character ~~ preparing students for success in school and in life.
Her leadership philosophy is grounded in servant leadership, collaboration, and trust. She believes the role of a superintendent is to listen, build relationships, remove barriers, and create the conditions in which students, staff, and families can thrive. Every decision, she believes, should begin with one question: What is in the best interest of our students?
Before joining the Union Township School District, Dr. Antunes served as Superintendent of Schools in both Little Egg Harbor Township and Hillsborough Township. Her experience includes strategic planning, curriculum and instructional leadership, school finance, labor relations, facilities planning, and technology integration.
A lifelong educator and proud parent, Dr. Antunes understands the importance of strong partnerships between schools and families. She is excited to become part of the Union Township community and looks forward to working alongside the Board of Education, faculty, staff, families, and students to build on the district's many strengths.
