Student Data Privacy and Security

The Union Township School District is committed to protecting student data privacy./span>

In addition to students following the Acceptable Use of Computer Network/Computers and Resources Policy 2361, the district adheres to the federal government policies concerning student privacy, the collection of data, and access to harmful content over the internet. These policies are referred to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Protection of Pupils Rights Amendment (PPRA), and Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA).  For more detailed information on these government policies please visit the Privacy Technical Assistance Center at U.S. Department of Education.

Students should also protect their privacy.  Here are some of the following things a student can do:

• Never share your password
• Never give out personal information such as name, address, phone number online
• Never use a personal picture of yourself for your google account or online
• Never talk to people online you do not know
• Always tell your teacher/parent if you see something that makes you feel uncomfortable
