Inclusive Preschool Program

Children Playing

The Union Township School District offers two full-day integrated programs with special education students attending alongside general education students. One program is for 3 year olds and the other is for 4 year olds.  A nap/quiet time for each preschool section will be instituted and will last approximately 60 minutes.

The teachers, who are certified in both elementary education and special education, along with one instructional aide, will teach the class. The ratio of adults to children in the room will be approximately 1:7.

The curriculum is aligned with the New Jersey State Standards for Preschool. Children are taught through hands-on learning, as well as visual and auditory approaches. Throughout the school year, children will be exposed to various strategies and techniques to establish a foundation for educational success. Students will acquire various skills, such as cognitive, fine motor, gross motor, social, and self-help skills.

Transportation will be provided for all students in the preschool program.

  • Applicants must be 3 or 4 before October 1, 2024 and fully potty trained by the start of school to qualify.  Applications are due no later than March 21. There is a limited number of students that will be selected. Preference will be given to current students enrolled and township residents. If the number of applicants exceeds available slots, a lottery will be held.  Parents/guardians will be notified of their child's acceptance no later than March 6th.

    • The two separate full-day programs, one for 3 year olds and one for 4 year olds, are held Monday through Friday from 8:45 - 3:30. The classes will follow the Regular Union Township School calendar relevant to opening and closing dates and school holidays.
